Author of ghosts, grief, found family & emotional devastation

Courtney Adaire

Courtney Adaire writes character-driven fiction about complicated people, strange circumstances, and the relationships that make everything worth surviving. Her stories tend to involve ghosts, grief, found family, queer characters, and at least a little emotional devastation. She lives in Illinois, where she works in medical aviation communications and is completing her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found reading, listening to entirely too much emo music, starting another creative hobby, or overthinking something.

About my writing

I’m drawn to stories about complicated people trying to find connection in strange circumstances. I love speculative elements grounded in otherwise ordinary worlds, characters who build families in unexpected places, and stories where grief and joy are allowed to exist beside each other.

Mostly, I write about people who keep living even when life looks nothing like they expected it to.
